Having an efficient boiler will certainly save you money. But you can save even more by making sure that you use it efficiently too. Sometimes something as simple as fitting temperature regulating valves (we call them TRVs for short) can give you the precise control you’re looking for, so that you have heat just where you need it, just when you need it there. TRVs are cheap and easy to install, even to existing heating systems. We always recommend them.

It’s hard to believe now, but it wasn’t so many years ago that boilers were less than 70% efficient. Now it’s possible to achieve efficiencies well above 90%, which is why there has been so much publicity lately about the benefits of installing A-rated boilers. Upgrading from an old boiler to a new one is a bit like finding a way to get 45 miles per gallon out of a car that used to give only 35 miles to the gallon. New boilers cost a lot less than they used to as well, and they start to save you money on your bills right away.
